Omens In The Wind
Omens In The Wind
If you have ever read “The Alchemist” by
Paulo Coelho, you would have an idea about what is meant by listening to the omens.
“When
you decide to do something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it.”
– The Alchemist.
This article is not about alchemy as much
as I am interested in the subject. However, the lessons taught by the Alchemist
are vital to living a happy and successful life. In fact, sometimes you may
feel like you are in the middle of a movie that you did not know was being
made. People come into your life and say seemingly random things that were on
your mind for ages or a song comes on the radio that you were humming all day.
You begin to think of someone and not long after you get a message or call from
them. These are not coincidences.
Mathematicians will tell you that
coincidences are nothing but a mathematical probability. Theologians will call it
fate or destiny. Meta Physicians will say that it is the universe shaping
itself to suit your will at that moment in time. It is said that when things
like this happen that you are in the creation state and if you were perfectly
able to maintain and control that state then you could achieve wondrous things.
This state also goes by another name that
is has been around as long as the English language and describes exactly what
the spiritual and scientific community have come to understand.
The state I am referring to – is FLOW.
The Flow State
From playing chess to extreme sports, the
Flow State is known as a state of complete and utter concentration. The moment
when “all the universe conspires in your favour”. Many would argue that it is
you in control of this and accessing your higher self. Some would say that it
is a higher power working through you. The scientific community became so
fascinated by it that they studied it and documented the Flow State as a state
of mind where you literally “only focus on what it is you are doing”.
There is are books and seminars held about
Flow so I will not delve too deep into it here however I have mentioned it
since there are times when we unconsciously enter the Flow State without even
knowing it and this is when things come together and people appear “as if they were sent” etc. Do you ever
get that feeling? Like people coming along and helping or just being there at
the right place at the right time. It is certainly no accident.
The wind is literally like a river that cannot be seen. It is a vital part of nature even though in many ways, like a hurricane, it can be destructive. The moments when things come into play that you did not expect but you did actually hope for, those are the moments where if you take a closer look, there may have been an omen or two pointing you in the right direction.
There are those who like to believe that
angels walk among us and guide us accordingly. Similar beliefs say that lesser
demons put negative events or circumstances in your path to teach you a lesson,
working in tandem with the angels.
Whichever scenario you choose to believe,
you cannot ignore the instances in your life where things seem to happen and it
is too coincidental to be random. The universe is too geometrically accurate
for events and circumstances to be random.
Allowing things to happen and dealing with
them as we go is perhaps the fastest way to a more carefree and at times, more
powerful
way of living. In doing so, we allow ourselves to relinquish the negativity
and wondering what will be, plaguing ourselves with “what if” questions, as
well as we deal with our problems head-on.
This also brings us to the present moment
which also forces us to remain in the only true reality, the here and now. If
you have ever read Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now”, you’d know exactly what
I am saying. The past is gone, the future has yet to come. The present moment
is all we truly have. And living in either the past or the future, we will
always feel either regret or resentfulness or we will feel anxious or nervous.
These are things that the Past and the Future bring into our lives. Neither is
a good thing on any day.
The Flow state is exactly that. It is about
becoming completely and irrevocably in the moment.
Become
your best self and live for the “Now”. Become all that you wish to be.
Decide to become that. Make the decision to become that which you wish you
could be.
It can be done. Give yourself the chance
to succeed and allow yourself to fail. The trick is to not give up and keep
trying until you succeed.
If you’ve enjoyed this short story and you’d like to support many more to come, caffeine keeps me going so if you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you.

NOTHING brings up poignant reflections quite like the week of Your Birthday ... can I get a witness?!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for an elegantly worded Article that DEFINITELY rings true to me and my life so far.
Ironically, the person who enticed me to read "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho with his masterful ability to sketch out a story as though it's happening as he's telling it, irrevocably captivating his audience of ONE ... that person IS a breathing, living, walking OMEN!
You ask, Author, "Do you ever get that feeling? Like people coming along and helping or just being there at the right place at the right time." My Answer: YES ... as I reflect on growing another year older, those are EXACTLY the people I identify in my sphere right now, whether right next to me in the same house or thousands of kilometers away from me ... their impact is felt DEEPLY.
As is my habit since my initial introduction to "The Alchemist" at age 22, I will be reading and re-reading this treasure infinitely since each sitting reveals a unique perspective based on my OWN growth and my Aspiration to touch minds with my Higher Self.
Thank YOU also for introducing me to FLOW ... a concept I am excited now to delve into in my 37th year!
